  • There is  growing concern nowadays regarding the alarming increase in and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria, which makes the treatment of infectious diseases increasingly difficult.
Focusing on the study and characterization of the mechanisms of resistance to antibiotics in both comensal and pathogenic bacteria of human, animal, food and environmental origin, studies have been carried out on the interrelationship between the different ecosystems, initiating new lines of research aimed at the molecular study of emerging mechanisms of resistance to antibiotics in bacteria of great clinical significance; characterizing the mechanisms of acquisition and dissemination of resistance; studying the use of antibiotics in the selection of mechanisms of resistance and developing the molecular typing of multi-resistant bacterial clones implicated in hospital outbreaks.
